In the warehouses of two legal entities based in Skopje, the Customs Inspectors of the Investigation Department detected 326 litres of smuggled Red Bull energy drink.

01.07.2015   MACEDONIA JOINS THE EU COMMON TRANSIT SYSTEM

The accession of Macedonia to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure and the Convention on the Simplification of Formalities in Trade in Goods provides for single movement of the goods within the framework of Member States territories, from one entry point to the location of termination of the transit procedure, regardless the number of the countries whose territory is transited.

30.06.2015   SEIZED CASH, CIGARETTES, CLOTHES, MOTORCYCLE, DIESEL FUEL, COUNTERFEITS

Last week the customs officers detected one case of customs fraud and several attempts for smuggling seizing cash, cigarettes, perfume base and bottles, clothes, motorcycle, registration plates, diesel fuel and counterfeits. There was also a prevented attempt for entry of 16 illegal migrants.

The Customs Administration continuously undertakes measures to simplify and facilitate the border formalities and to improve the capacity at the border crossing points. In this direction a consultancy company has been selected that will be responsible for preparation of drafting of technical documentation concerning the superstructure of the facilities at the border crossings Tabanovce and Kjafasan.

Strengthening the coordination and cooperation in the fight against illegal trade of tobacco products is the main focus of the Memorandum of Understanding signed today between Natasha Radeska, Director of the Custom Administration of Macedonia and Emre Kozlu, General Manager of Philip Morris Tutunski Kombinat Prilep and representative of Philip Morris International Management, which is the third party in this Memorandum.

The Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia hereby informs the economic operators involved in transit customs procedure that the Republic of Macedonia will accede to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure on 1st July, wherewith application of the common transit procedure with the EU Member States, EFTA countries and Turkey will start.

Acting upon the established irregularities, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia brought criminal charges for 7 cases in May 2015, before the competent Public Prosecutor’s Offices, against 4 legal entities and 8 natural persons.
