Skopje, 12th July 2010

This weekend at the Skopje Airport Alexander the Great, the customs officials prevented an attempt for illegal take-out of EUR 31,000.

In the afternoon of 11th July 2010, a Macedonian citizen checked in on a flight from Skopje to Istanbul. When asked if he had anything to declare, the passenger, who was targeted for customs control, said he only had 2,000 euros on him. However, during the detailed search, the customs officials found 33,000 euros. According to the Macedonian regulations, 2,000 euros were returned to the passenger, while the rest was seized.
Previously, on 09th July at the same customs office, the officials seized 10 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes, found during the inspection of the suitcases of a Macedonian citizen, who arrived on a flight from Budapest.
