AT TABANOVCE 41,600 CIGARILLOS SEIZED
 
 
On 12th July 2010, the customs officials of the Border Crossing Point Tabanovce - Motorway prevented an attempt for illicit introduction of 41,600 cigarillos without banderolles, found in a freight motor vehicle with Greek license plates transporting different goods, which was declared in a transit procedure. The vehicle was driven by a Greek citizen.
 
Following the document control, the customs officials inspected the goods, when, besides the regularly declared they found the undeclared cigarettes, which was not indicated in the presented documents, including:
 
- 12 boxes or a total of 21,600 cigarillos NEOS CAPPUCCINO and
- 10 boxes or a total of 20,000 cigarillos NEOS MINI.
 
This way, the perpetrator, with the intent to unlawfully gain financial advantage, attempted to transport large quantity of excise goods, worth 186,400 denars. The evaded taxes payable amount to 1,148,352 denars.
On grounds of having reasonable doubts that the perpetrator committed a crime – related to illegal trade in alcohol and tobacco products, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia pressed criminal charges against the perpetrator.
