Concerning the possibility for regulation of the status of vehicles with foreign license plates in Macedonia, the Customs Administration would like to remind about the following:
-
The provisions provisions of the Rulebook for single approval of a vehicle (OG 16/2010), stipulating a possibility to register passenger vehicles which meet EURO 1 standard cease to be in force on 05th August 2010.
Registration of these vehicles will only be possible only if by 05th August 2010 the vehicle has been cleared and a homologation procedure has been initiated, more precisely, if a request with complete documentation has been lodged to the authorized bodies for homologation, accompanied by import customs declaration and a certificate related to the technical characteristics of the vehicle.
Basically this means that after 05th August 2010, stricter standards are entering into force, i.e. EURO – 2 standards, thus the EURO -1 vehicles shall no longer be registered.
We hereby invite all citizens who intend to import and clear a vehicle with EURO -1 standard to do this as soon as possible, since the deadline for this possibility iwill soon end.
2. Furthermore, we would like to remind that the deadline for temporary admission of vehicles with foreign license plates brough in Macedonia until 05th February 2010 shall expire on 30th September 2010. After this period, a provision shall enter into force stipulating that vehicles with foreign license plates will be able to remain in Macedonia only for a period of 6 months during a 12-month-period. This is laid down in the Customs Code Implementing regulation, and the failure to observe this provision is a customs offence.
