Notification on the manner and procedure for distribution of goods within tariff quotas |
|
The Customs Administration hereby informs that the Decision on the Amendments to the manner and procedure for distribution of goods within tariff quotas, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia no. 168 of 31st December 2008 is now in force. The amendments provide for the possibility to apply for distribution of tariff quota electronically through the Information System for processing of electronic data and electronic signature for import, export and transit of goods – EXIM.

CRIMINAL CHARGES BROUGHT BY THE CUSTOMS ADMINISTRATION IN DECEMBER 2008 |
|
In December 2008, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia brought criminal charges in eight cases against six legal and twelve natural persons. The charges were brought on grounds of reasonable doubts that the persons had committed crimes, such as: customs fraud, document forgery, wrongful acquisition of financial advantage from illegal import and release for free circulation of goods subject of excise duties.

LAGRE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES SEIZED |
|
On 30th December 2008 at about 12.00h, during a routine control of a suspicious vehicle – Daihatsu van (license plates SK 319 LB), owned by the company Krasnoja DOO from Skopje and loaded with alcoholic beverages (brandy, tequila, gin, vodka and ouzo), the inspectors of the Customs Administration found 411 litres of alcohol without declaration and part of which without tax stickers on them, worth MKD 121,140.

|
The detailed inspection of a container loaded with different goods with Chinese origin,on 28th December 2008 resulted in detection and prevention of an attempt for smuggling of large quantity of undeclared goods, worth MKD 1,439,852.

CRIMINAL CHARGES BROUGH AGAINST PRESENT AND FORMER CUSTOMS OFFICIALS |
|
On 26th Decmber 2008, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Struga, brought criminal charges against 34 customs officials, accused of committing a crime Misuse of Official Position and Powers on several occasions, in accordance with Article 353, paragraph 1, 2 and 3 of the Criminal Law of the Republic of Macedonia, either independently or as co-doers of the crime.

Within last week and the days of the weekend during the regular customs controls, the customs officials prevented several attempts for importation of undeclared goods. Reports on committed customs offences have been prepared and procedures to establish the liability of the perpetrators have immediately been initiated before the Commission on Offence Procedures and Sanctions

SEIZED UNDECLARED AND COUNTERFEIT GOODS |
|
During the regular customs controls carried out within last week and the days of the weekend, the customs officials prevented several attempts for smuggling of undeclared and counterfeit goods. Customs offence charges were immediately brought and procedures to establish the liability of the suspects were also initiated before the Commission on Customs Offences and Sanctions within the Customs Administration.
