Last week, the customs officers detected one customs fraud and prevented several attempts for smuggling different goods seizing foreign cash, machines, gas pistol with ammunition, cigarettes, parts for trucks, parts for excavators and clothing.

Foreign currencies
- 16,000 Euros and 213,000 Czech crowns, detected in two separate cases at the border crossing Tabanovce.
In the first case, during personal search of two Macedonian citizen traveling by a Macedonian registered car, declared for exit, the customs officers found and were seized 16,000 euros, which the passengers failed to declare. In the handbag of the passenger and around the wais under the jeans of the driver, the customs officers found 10,000 euros, which did not have documents of origin. 2,000 Euros were returned to each person, an amount that residents can freely take out from the country. Misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against the two perpetrators.

In the second case, during personal search of a Macedonian citizen who was driving a Czech car, declared to exit the country, the customs officers seized 213,000 Czech crowns. In his inner jacket pocket the customs officers found 270,000 Czech crowns and the owner failed to present proof of origin of the money. According to the regulations, 57,000 Czech crowns, equivalent to 2,000 euros, were returned to the passenger asan amount that residents can freely take out from the country. Misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against the perpetrator.

Gas gun, ammunition and cigarettes
- 1 gas pistol, 4 gas cylinders (charges) and 120 metal bullets, found in a Turkish bus traveling from Istanbul - Skopje - Struga, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Bpogorodica. The undeclared gun and ammunition were found in a passenger bag owned by Macedonian citizen, passenger on the bus. They were seized and against the passenger, a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings was submitted

The undeclared product were found in the driver’s cab and was impounded. Misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against the driver.

Parts for trucks and excavators
- 19 spare parts for cargo vehicles (pads, clamps, plate, thrust plates, bearings, shock absorbers, cylinder and hydraulic pump CAB), found in the empty Bulgarian truck, driven by a Macedonian citizen at the entrance of border crossing Deve Bair. The undeclared parts were found in the cab of the vehicle and were impounded. Misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against the driver.
- 1 excavator turbine, 10 gaskets and 10 kg of welding electrodes, detected during control of a Kosovo registered car, driven by a Kosovo citizen at the entrance at the border crossing Jazhince. The undeclared goods were found in cardboard boxes placed in the boot. They were seized and misdemeanor proceedings were launched against the driver .

Clothing
- 99 woman’s sweaters, found in a Turkish bus traveling from Istanbul to Gostivar, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Bogorodica The undeclared goods, owned by a passenger on the bus, Macedonian citizen, were found in the luggage area is located above the seats and under several seats on the bus. They were seized and appropriate action will be taken against the passenger.
- 33 parts of national costumes (women's shirts, vests, hats and trousers) found during inspection of a Macedonian car that arrived for entrance at the border crossing point Jazhince, with two persons, Macedonian citizens. The undeclared goods were found in two bags placed in front of the passenger and the back seat. They were seized and misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against the driver.

Fraud
The customs office Gevgelija discovered an attempt to evade import duties through incorrect tariff classification.
A Prilep-based importer declared for import clearance solar panels, declared under tariff code with 0% customs rate and 5% VAT. However, according to the general rules for use of the Customs Tariff Nomenclature, they should have been classified under a completely different tariff code with 0% customs rate and 18% VAT.
Based on the newly established tariff code, additional import duties amounting to 14 thousand denars, a Report on wrongful tariff classification was drafted and misdemeanor proceedings were conducted which resulted with fine for the importer.
