On 22nd November  2018, the Customs Administration organized a presentation of the system, the concept and the application of the Integrated Tariff Environment (ITE) for the business community.

The attendees were informed about the importance of the Integrated Tariff Environment, a system that integrates all tariff and non-tariff measures in one place: customs duty, VAT, excises, other duties, prohibitions and restrictions, etc., for all types of goods. The system has several modules that form the so-called tariff environment. The ITE system provides for  further automation of the customs clearance process, taking into account the fact that it provides electronic access to all data necessary for the preparation of customs declarations, which were previously available solely in paper form. The system will provide a separate calculation module for automatic calculation of customs and other duties that will also be automatically checked.  This will ensure faster, shorter and cheaper customs procedures for the economic operators and will undoubtedly lead to easier and faster movement of goods. On the other hand, the system for the Customs Administration will mean greater efficiency in the customs procedures and improved system for prevention and identification of fraud.

The Director General of the Customs Administration, Mr. Gjoko Tanasoski spoke at the event, emphasizing that the Customs Administration is fully committed to the EU accession and completing the most important precondition for this - introduction of electronic systems that will ensure full compatibility and interoperability between IT systems of the Customs Administration and the relevant EU Customs IT. He also pointed out that the new era of Digital Customs will significantly change the way Customs works. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the communication and the customs clearance procedures and to ensure gathering and exchange of information, coordinated border activities and cooperation in the law enforcement area.
