The Customs Administration is hosting the most important conference of the World Customs Organization - PICARD (Customs Research and Development Partnership), which will be held in Skopje within 22-24 October 2015. The conference is organized in partnership with the World Customs Organization and the Faculty of Economics at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

The annual theme of the conference is "Smart Borders for Seamless Trade, Travel and Transport", with a focus on the commitment to the smooth movement of goods, passengers and means of transport across borders. Topics to be addressed at the conference by presenting scientific and practical papers are: Big Data Analytics, Border Coordination and Collaboration, Cross-Border e-Commerce, Special Economic Zones, Border Crossing Technology and Reduction of Protectionism.

This year's conference is expected to bring together about 200 customs experts, academics, consultants from more than 80 countries,.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev, Customs Director General Gjoko Tanasoski, WCO Secretary General Dr. Kunio Mikuria and Director of the Korean Customs Service Anna Cho will open this years’ Conference. 

The organization of the conference in the Republic of North Macedonia is a confirmation of the reform progress and commitment of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Administration for inclusion in the global chains of the world economy, modernization of customs operations and facilitation of trade.
