Delegation of the Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia led by the Director General Gjoko Tanasoski participated on the 16th Meeting of the Subcommittee on Trade, Industry, Customs and Taxation, that was held in Brussels on 13th November.

Concerning the part that refers  to Customs Union, within the framework of the Subcommittee meeting, the Director General of the Customs Administration noted that the modernization and reform remains a strategic determination of the Customs Administration.

At the same time, through a concise overview, representatives of the European Commission were briefed on the progress of reforms between the two Subcommittees, current and future activities aimed at further harmonization of the legislation and institutional strengthening of the Customs Administration, ongoing co-operation and facilitation initiatives. 

The participants at the meeting were also informed about ongoing and future EU supported projects that are being implemented in continuity, maintenance and development of the IT systems. At the meeting, the Customs Administration presented the plans and topics that will be part of its 2020 Chairmanship of the CEFTA Customs and Origin Subcommittee.
