Today, the Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Market Inspectorate conducted joint controls against illegal sale of cigarettes, cut tobacco and other tobacco products on the green markets in several cities across the country, previously in Skopje and Bitola and today in Tetovo. Subject to the joint controls was control and seizure of illegally sold products – excise goods.

Over the past four weeks, the customs officers foiled two attempts for drugs traficking, a vehicle with a bunker for smuggling and several attempts for smuggling different goods, including robotic lawnmowers, chemical preparations, clothing, handbags, fresh seafood and cosmetics.

Today, 26th August 2019, the Prime Ministers of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia Zoran Zaev and Ana Brnabic marked the official launch of joint controls at the BCP Tabanovce - Preshevo. High delegations and senior Customs and Police representatives of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia attended the event, as well as representatives of the chambers of commerce.

As of Friday – 23rd August 2019, the new Customs Declaration and Excise Document Processing System (CDEPS) is becoming operational at CO Gevgelija, CO Bogorica and CO Tabanovce. As of this date,  all customs declarations shall be lodged in the CDEPS at the mentioned customs offices.

The economic operators lodging declarations at these offices are reminded that they need to meet the basic requirements to be able to lodge electronic customs declarations, as follows:
 
  •     Have an electronic signature (certificate);
  •     Have approved access to CDEPS;
  •     Have authorisation for representation activities.
Note: all authorizations related to customs procedures must be previously registered in CDEPS.
 
With the inclusion of the three largest customs offices as of 23rd August, the CDEPS will become applicable at all customs offices, thus completing the first and most important phase of the digitization of the customs procedures.

 

 

 

 

 

To ensure better movement of people and trade and to facilitate traffic across the state border between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia, Protocols on the implementation of the Agreement on establishing joint controls at the border crossing point for international road traffic Tabanovce (Republic of North Macedonia) - Preshevo (Republic of Serbia) between the competent institutions of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia were signed today (20.8.2019) in Skopje.
