On 4-5 September 2019, the Customs Administration in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the World Bank will organize a regional workshop on technical cooperation to supplement the regulations for application of Single Window System for import and export customs clearance and data exchange. The workshop will be attended by representatives of the Customs Administrations of the CEFTA countries, border agencies for veterinary and phytosanitary control, as well as representatives of all agencies involved in the process of granting import and export licenses. The presence of senior UNECE, World Bank, IFC and European Commission officials is also expected.

Over the past three weeks, the customs officers uncovered several attempts for smuggling goods, seizing handheld electrical appliances and tools, Swarovski jewelry, clothing, foreign currencies, truck turbines, mobile phones and cellphone parts, and more.

On 12.07.2019 the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia signed an Agreement on establishing joint controls at the border crossing point Tabanovce – Preshevo, being the first two countries in the Western Balkans to begin joint border controls. The official launch of joint controls will be at the end of August 2019.

Over the past two weeks, the customs officers prevented several attempts for smuggling different goods, seizing tools, door parts, coffee machine parts, cosmetics, foreign currencies, school supplies, medical equipment, cigarettes, tobacco, counterfeits and more.

On 3rd July 3 2019, the Director General of the Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia, Gjoko Tanasoski, together with the Director of Customs System Sector Zlatko Veterovski, made two working visits in the companies Drexlmayer and IGM-Trade Doo Kavadarci. The purpose of the visit was granting of Authorized Economic Operator Certificates.
